Following the devastating fires at the beginning of 2009, a new station was established in Jonkershoek. The Jonkershoek station will allow the VWS to hugely expand its area of service, providing assistance in the four major Boland CapeNature Reserves: Jonkershoek, Liemietberg, Kogleberg and Hottentots Holland.

So far, 27 new recruits have successfully trained and qualified for the current fire season, with plans to increase the number to 60 by November 2010.   Since December 31st, the Station has responded to and assisted CapeNature at fires, in Bot River, Kleinmond and Franschhoek and more recently Kylemore. This has accumulated to over 385 operational hours for our Jonkershoek active members alone.
